On August 6 1945 Enola Gay dropped "Little Boy" on Hiroshima. (which was the headquarters of the Japanese Second Army and Chugoku Regional Army as well as a major port for weapons shipping) 
The bomb instantly killed around 80,000 people and 50,000 more due to radiation. Around 69% of the city was completely leveled. Many argue wheather or not this was a neccessary act or a uneeded abuse of power.
